Having second thoughts

I hadn't heard anything from Vitamix or Blendtec yet, but I'm actually re-thinking if I even want to attempt this plan with either unit. I have been unsure of which one I wanted to really sink into my plan with. And I came across a really great review of several blenders side by side. I am a huge fan of Popular Mechanics, I always have been. But this is making me re-think my whole plan. Maybe my time might be better spent on my plan with a less expensive unit. I'm really leaning towards the Kitchenaid. I don't think it can emulsify like either Vitamix or Blendtec can, but for the time and effort I'm really leaning towards a different idea. If anyone has any thoughts about why Vitamix or Blendtec would still be a better way to go, I would love to hear!

My journey...

I am currently working on creating a plan to lose weight that revolves around my blender. I thought it might be interesting to try to lose weight, only using what I make from my blender in every meal. I have created 2 blogs, myvitamixweightlossjourney.blogspot.com and myblendtecweightlossjourney.blogspot.com. I'm not asking for any sort of sponsorship in the form of monetary donation for the creation of either blog. But I am hoping that either Vitamix or Blendtec will agree to donate a blender in exchange for me documenting my weight loss using their product.

I'm hoping it turns out to be a great success and that I lose weight in the process. I also think it will be fun to try new recipes, use existing ones, and just have fun with everything. I am also probably going to be contacting other blender companies as well and see if anyone else is interested in the challenge. I chose to contact Vitamix and Blendtec first in the hopes they would be interested as I know their blenders are very durable, but there are many other companies out there that make very good blenders and I hope to reach out to them next this week if I don't hear back from Vitamix or Blendtec soon,

My Weight Loss Journey

Welcome to my weight loss journey...
The long road ahead will be a windy and difficult journey. But one I am finally willing and am ready to face.

I just wanted to thank everyone that has come to my blog, all are welcome, all are welcome! I'm having a lot of fun planning the idea, and putting everything into motion finally. It's been a long time coming. So without further ado, I present to you my newest idea. I have a number of blogs, but this is my favorite idea so far. It's also my most recent idea.

Anyhow, the idea struck me one evening while I was trying to enter to win a Blendtec and was making up some smoothies. I love my smoothies, in fact I have been making them for about 26 years now, since before I had heard them called smoothies. When I first started making them they were called yogurt drinks. So the idea struck me, what if I create a weight loss plan around my favorite thing in the world? Smoothies! I think I could use a Blendtec in every meal I make and have great success with my diet.

Unfortunately, there aren't too many smoothie diets out there. So I realized what I wanted to do. I want to create my own weight loss plan around what I drink. So I am going to work on the idea a bit more yet and call it "My Blendtec Weight Loss Journey".

My first step is to work out the plan a bit more. The plan in a nutshell will be to use my Blendtec in every meal I make. From the research I have done Blendtec does so much more than just blends. You can make smoothies, soups, you name it. I plan to make just about anything with my new Blendtec. Next step?

What will I be drinking? Zero water. I got one of those pitchers and I plan to drink as much water as I can. And then for everything else? Everything else will come from what I make with My Blendtec. Ok, the hard part is done. Now, what about my diet?

So since my focus is going to be on my fluid intake. I also don't drink much water right now. So at first diving in from 0 glasses a day to 8 is going to be tough. To compensate? As I slowly increase my water intake I will also get extra fluids by getting in lots of fruits and veggies every day to increase my water consumption through food.

I know sounds weird right? But if we are 90% water we should probably also be eating foods so that combined with the 8 glasses of water everyday so that what we eat/drink is also 90% water. I love fruits and veggies, and now that spring has sprung it's easy to find all sorts of fruits and veggies. There is a Euro Market right by my office that has the best fruit salad. It's a great mix of all perfectly ripe fruits. I hate getting a fruit salad where all the fruit is under ripe, or worse yet 90% of it is canteloupe. This place rocks, not only is it all fresh, and perfectly ripe, but it's the perfect mix. So I plan to get all my smoothie supplies there. I can just grab a fruit salad on the way home each day. And then lunch? That's going to be a bit trickier, but I think I can use it the night before to make up some soup and I can bring that to lunch. Alternately I may need to start working from home. That won't be a problem really. Dinner can be just about anything I want it to be. But with my health in mind. And of course, made with My Blendtec! I plan to listen to my body and balance out my dinner from the rest of my day. And the last step?

The exercise program of course. That I'm still working on and might still be changing that so I will be waiting until I have solidified this part before posting about my workout program. I start Monday April 18. This week has been full of real life and I don't want that to be an excuse, but sometimes the real world is more than the body can bear. Illness has reared it's ugly head but I seem to be getting better rather than getting worse so this week will be a light gym week. More to come...
